Building Views

The minimalist window has known a remarkable success for nearly two decades, pursuing and extending the legacy of a major icon of Modern Architecture — the horizontal sliding window and the glass window/wall. This system allows the use of large surfaces of glass and the reduction of the frame to its minimal expression, pursuing the aims of transparency and immateriality of many modern architects.

The project Building Views seeks to trace the history of the minimalist window, identifying the technological and architectural achievements since the beginning of the 20th century as well as the challenges this system faces today. The book Building Views (Carlos Machado e Moura ed., Circo de Ideias, 2017) reveals over 20 recent works by Jofebar, a thirty-year-old company in the field of metalworking, structural glass and minimalist windows through its brand panoramah!®, and includes over thirty original texts by different international authors, including architects, critics, photographers, writers, entrepreneurs and academics.

_______

About the book “DUETO/DUELO II — PEDRO GADANHO E PAOLO ROSSELLI: A TALK ON ARCHITECTURE IN PHOTOGRAPHY: PHOTOGRAPHS BY PAOLO ROSSELLI” [Scopio Editions, 2018]

Pedro Gadanho – Paolo Rosselli – A Talk on Architecture in Photography: Photographs by Paolo Rosselli is the first of the four publications focused on each of the Dueto/Duelo sessions that fostered a critical debate related to Architecture, Art and Image between architects and photographers, which took place in 2016 in Casa das Artes of Porto, Portugal.  Even though this book has as base the talk between Pedro Gadanho and Paolo Rosselli it amounts to much more than the rich exchange of ideas between these two authors.  In fact, this book foretells the significant and close collaboration between the authors, editors and designers, particularly the passionate work with Paolo Rosselli resulting in a judicious selection and juxtaposition of images and text, combined with thoughtful layout and design.

About the book “BUILDING VIEWS” [Circo de Ideias, 2017]

The minimalist window has known a remarkable success for nearly two decades, pursuing and extending the legacy of a major icon of Modern Architecture — the horizontal sliding window and the glass window/wall. Starting from the worldwide experience of Jofebar, a thirty-year-old company in the field of metalworking, structural glass and minimalist windows, this book proposes to build different views on the contemporary window, architecture and construction. Contributors — including architects, critics, photographers, writers, entrepreneurs and academics — offer a rich and unexpected set of insightful texts and beautiful images.
