About the book “DUETO/DUELO II — PEDRO GADANHO E PAOLO ROSSELLI: A TALK ON ARCHITECTURE IN PHOTOGRAPHY: PHOTOGRAPHS BY PAOLO ROSSELLI” [Scopio Editions, 2018]

Pedro Gadanho – Paolo Rosselli – A Talk on Architecture in Photography: Photographs by Paolo Rosselli is the first of the four publications focused on each of the Dueto/Duelo sessions that fostered a critical debate related to Architecture, Art and Image between architects and photographers, which took place in 2016 in Casa das Artes of Porto, Portugal.  Even though this book has as base the talk between Pedro Gadanho and Paolo Rosselli it amounts to much more than the rich exchange of ideas between these two authors.  In fact, this book foretells the significant and close collaboration between the authors, editors and designers, particularly the passionate work with Paolo Rosselli resulting in a judicious selection and juxtaposition of images and text, combined with thoughtful layout and design.

About the book “BUILDING VIEWS” [Circo de Ideias, 2017]

The minimalist window has known a remarkable success for nearly two decades, pursuing and extending the legacy of a major icon of Modern Architecture — the horizontal sliding window and the glass window/wall. Starting from the worldwide experience of Jofebar, a thirty-year-old company in the field of metalworking, structural glass and minimalist windows, this book proposes to build different views on the contemporary window, architecture and construction. Contributors — including architects, critics, photographers, writers, entrepreneurs and academics — offer a rich and unexpected set of insightful texts and beautiful images.

About “BUILDING VIEWS TALKS”

The first Building Views Talk was devoted to the legacy of Richard Neutra and took place on the 20th November 2017 at Jofebar Showroom, Matosinhos (Portugal), with the presence of Dion Neutra, Raymond Neutra, Eduardo Souto de Moura, Jorge Figueira and Carlos Machado e Moura. Building Views on Portuguese Architecture is the second session of the series and focuses on Portuguese Architecture and its international promotion. The third talk, titled Building Views on the Legacy of Alvar Aalto will take place in Porto on the 4th October 2018, with the participation of Juhani Pallasmaa and other guests.

ABOUT THE SESSION

BOOK LAUNCH / TALK ON THE LEGACY OF RICHARD NEUTRA

Jofebar will launch Building Views, published by Circo de Ideias, on Monday the 20th November, at 6:30 pm, in its showroom in Matosinhos (Rua D. Marcos da Cruz 1240, Perafita). This first public presentation of the book will focus on Richard Neutra’s architecture and his contribution to the development of sliding glass doors and windows.

In the session, two sons of Richard Neutra – architect Dion Neutra and doctor Raymond Richard Neutra – will discuss with Eduardo Souto de Moura, an author whose work incorporated much of the legacy of Richard Neutra and Californian modern architecture, adopting sliding window/walls extensively. Souto de Moura was also one of the first architects to use minimalist windows, largely contributing for the success of this type of window. Architecture critic Jorge Figueira and the editor of the book Carlos Machado e Moura join the conversation.

This is the first of a series of conferences/debates that compose the national and international programme of presentation of the book, being each one of the sessions dedicated to different moments of the technical and architectural history of the window and including different guests.
